Description

I've always wanted to do a Trinity Blood costume, and about half a year ago a friend asked me why exactly I hadn't done one yet... A question to which I had no answer, and so this costume happened.

I got a little caught up in commissions this summer, and so aside from the hat, patterning and cutting the leather for the boot covers, and buying supplies, I didn't even start this costume until the Saturday before Otakon... I ended up pulling 3 all-nighters and skipping Friday in order to finish it, and it wasn't done until 6 a.m. Saturday morning, but I managed to finish it in time to take Novice Runner Up in the costume contest, my first award!

Details in case anyone cares:
Almost everything is made by me, except for the pants.
-The shirt, vest, and coat were patterned by draping, and all sewn in cotton blends.
-The boot covers were patterned by tape casting my legs, and are made of dyed deer leather.
-The hat I shaped from a wool felt hatbody from Hats by Leko- Unfortunately I'm no hatmaker, so although it's the right shape I can't actually wear it.
-The belt blanks I made into the belts and and rest of the leather (for the scabbard, the epaulets, and the boots) came from Tandy Leather Factory.
-The buckles came from Jas. Townsend & Son, Inc.
-The tassels were made from perle cotton string and some fabric glue.
-Gold detailing was screen printing ink on the fabric, Liquitex acrylic on the leather, hat, and on the fabric part of the epaulets.
-Also that is a real ascot because hey, why not?
-As to the sword, my dad makes practice swords in our basement for MASHS, and seriously just so happened to have a sabre guard lying around. We had to tweak it a bit (it was too big and the wrong shape), but it sure made life easier. He also did all the cutting and such, and even put it together for me. I sanded the edge down into the "blade" and sculpted the pommel. Huzzah dad and your peculiar hobbies!
-And finally, I dyed my real hair because I didn't have time to style a wig (and I'm not very good at it anyways). I figured my hair was long enough to do the hairstyle, and so I temporarily became a ginger.

(Although I normally love critiques, I already know pretty much everything I need to with this piece! I won't be mad if you feel the need to tell me about something you notice, but I don't particularly intend to fix most of the problems. I love it the way it is, and there are only a few that bug me enough that I will, since this costume isn't retired yet.)
